Natalie Raymond is KVHC’s Employee of the Month for October 2011! Katahdin Valley Health Center’s Lisa Nielsen, MD, has been recognized by Martin’s Point HealthCare of Portland as an outstanding Maine physician. Two of Martin’s Point’s Medicare Advantage plans has recently been recognized as a “5-Star” plan for 2012 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, one of only 9 in the nation.
Lisa Nielsen has been recognized as an outstanding physician in the state of Maine, whose dedication and commitment to her patients at KVHC has helped Martin’s Point HealthCare garner its “5-Star”rating. As a token of their thanks for her hard work, Martin’s Point has awarded her a Certificate of Recognition.
Each basket has everything needed to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal, including a 12-14lb turkey, stuffing mix, potatoes, gravy, various side dishes and trimmings, and a freshly baked pie. Community members that have received a Thanksgiving basket are given a voucher that can be redeemed for their basket on Friday, November 18th at their local Hannaford store. This year’s fundraiser was directed by Megan Day, with aid from Carrie Kyllonen and Lynn Appleton. Carrie Kyllonen is KVHC’s Employee of the Month for September 2011! On Saturday, October 29th, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office will be at KVHC’s Island Falls location from 10AM-2PM to oversee the safe disposal of unused and/or expired medications as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This resulted in a total of 31 units of blood donated! Thank you to all who participated! Jayde is a 2009 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta with a degree in Dental Health Science. She was raised in Lee, Maine and is a 2005 graduate of Lee Academy. Upon graduation, Jayde attended the University of Maine where she completed the Dental Assisting program before entering into Dental Hygiene. Jayde has been serving the dental needs of the Fort Kent area for the past two years, and has recently relocated to be closer to her family and home town. Additionally, Jayde is currently providing hygiene services in KVHC’s Millinocket dental facility. Starting September 20th Jayde will be accepting new patients at the Houlton Site. Hours Of Operation: Katahdin Valley Health Center, with facilities in Houlton, Island Falls, Millinocket and Patten, Maine, is pleased to announce the addition of board certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Nicki Larrabee. Nicki received her Master of Science in Nursing from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. She was raised in Benedicta, Maine and graduated from Katahdin High School. Upon graduation, Nicki attended Quinnipiac University where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Nicki worked at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut as an RN, Clinical Leader, and Labor & Delivery Charge Nurse while simultaneously completing her Master’s Degree and Family Nurse Practitioner program. She always planned to come back to Maine and provide healthcare to the people in the area where she grew up. Nicki recently moved back to the Southern Aroostook region with her husband, Eric and 10-month old son, Colin. “We are excited to be back home surrounded by family and are looking forward to raising Colin here.” Nicki is currently accepting new patients in the Houlton facility.
